Method of Application & Surface Preparation
- For sheet metal surfaces: To achieve the highest level of performance, sandblasting should be carried out at the SA 2 ½ level. The sandblasted surface should be primed with an epoxy primer rich in zinc powder or an epoxy primer rich in zinc phosphate in such a way that it is the necessary dry film, taking into account the product Information.
- Concrete Surface Quality: The concrete surface should be clean, firm and have sufficient compressive strength (>25N/mm²), tensile strength >1.5N/mm². The concrete floor to be insulated must be solid there should be no play on the surface. The laitance layer on the surface must be removed without fail. The concrete to be insulated must be at least C25, preferably C30 – C35 standard.
- Surface Preparation (Concrete Surface): The surface should be cleaned using pressurized water, cleaned of grease, grease, dirt, mortar particles and dust. Concrete surfaces should be prepared in such a way that an open porous surface is obtained by removing the cement grout using abrasive equipment. It should also be completely free from mold release agents, cement residue chips, loose particles and uncured membranes. The laitance layer on the surface must be removed without fail. (Shot-Blast, Route Tiger, etc.) If the surface is too bright, it should be roughened by milling or sand blasting and the specific surface should be increased. Concrete cracks should be cut in a V-shape, cleaned, false joints should be cleaned.
Terms of Application
Condition Instruction Surface Temperature +10°C to +30°C Ambient Temperature +10°C to +30°C Material Temperature +10°C to +30°C Surface Moisture Content The humidity in concrete is max. it should be 4%. Relative Humidity It should be no more than 80%. Dew Point The floor temperature during application should be at least 3 °C above the dew point. Mixing Ratio A/B=80/20(by weight)
Application Instructions
- Mixing Time: Component A is mixed with a low-speed (300-400 rpm) mechanical mixer until it becomes homogeneous in itself. Then component B is added to component A and the mixture is continuously mixed for 2 minutes until it becomes homogeneous. Avoid mixing too much to minimize air drag.
Method of Application: Before applying, check the relative humidity and dew point. If the conditions are suitable, start applying. The primed surface is poured with POLEPOX-EP FLAKE SL Solvent-free Epoxy Flake Self-leveling surface, spread on the surface with a notched trowel. Then the hedgehog is passed through it with a roller so that the drifting air is ejected. The prepared mixture is applied to the max. it should be consumed within minutes. Repair and leveling operations are carried out at least 8 hours after the previously applied epoxy primer material.
Application Notes
Do not apply the product in places where there is an outflow of moisture from the surface. Freshly applied POLEPOX-EP FLAKE SL should be kept away from moisture, condensation and water for at least 24 hours. Dirty places can not be covered with thin coatings, as well as uneven surfaces. For these reasons, both the surface and the areas next to it should always be prepared for application and thoroughly cleaned before applying. It should be noted that the POLEPOX-EP FLAKE SL applied in the same area is used from the same batch of numbered products in order for the color of the coating to hold exactly with each other. If it is necessary to heat the environment, use electrical systems. Fossil fuel systems affect the surface appearance. Sun damage to the surface can cause color differentiation. This differentiation certainly does not affect the performance of the material. The application should not be performed in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather or if the ambient and surface temperature is below +10 °C or above +30 °C. For applications to be carried out at appropriate temperatures, the materials to be used should be brought to the application area 1-2 days in advance and stored and it should be ensured that it adapts to the environmental conditions. In extreme cold applications, ambient and ground temperature should be increased with the help of heaters, and packages should be conditioned at +20 °C - +25 °C and ready for use to increase the workability of the material. Epoxy and polyurethane floor coverings should be applied by professional applicators. The operating and reaction times of resin-based systems are affected by ambient and ground temperature, as well as relative humidity in the air. At low temperatures, the chemical reaction slows down, which increases the time of use, the time of folding and the time of operation. At the same time, since the viscosity increases, the consumption increases. High temperatures increase the speed of the chemical reaction, and the times described above are correspondingly shortened. The ambient and ground temperature should not fall below the minimum allowable temperature in order for the entire material to complete the cure. After completion of the application, the coating should be protected from direct water contact for at least 24 hours. If there is a water contact, this will create carbonation and softening on the coating, which will cause the coating to lose its properties. In the face of such a situation, the entire coating should be removed from the floor and renewed.
